Description

This contoured foam shoulder rest offers the padding of a traditional rest with the comfort of a sponge, making it a great choice for both beginners and advanced players. It’s budget-friendly, won’t scratch or damage your violin or viola, and fits easily into any case. With a subtle, low-profile design and easy attachment using a standard rubber band, this shoulder rest is available in three sizes to suit a range of instruments. Sold individually.

This lightweight foam shoulder rest provides the elevation of a standard rest combined with the softness of a sponge, making it ideal for players at any level. Its low-profile design keeps it discreet, and it attaches easily with a regular rubber band. It’s an affordable option that’s gentle on your instrument, leaving no marks or scratches. Available in three different shoulder rest sizes to accommodate all sizes of violin and viola.

  • Place the foam shoulder rest across the bottom of the back of the violin or viola. The thinner part of the foam goes directly beneath the position of the chin rest on the other side.
  • Attach one elastic band from one of the lower waist ridges to the end button.
  • Attach the second elastic from the other lower waist ridge to the end button. The elastics should form the letter V across the back.
  • The elastics will also form the letter V across the top. For a cleaner look, you may want to tuck the elastics under the chin rest on the top.

The violin should be placed so that the chin rest is pressed against the jawbone, not the chin. The back of the violin or viola should be on your collar bone, using your shoulder to support the instrument and keep it upright. This shoulder rest is designed to cushion violin against the shoulder for comfort and make it easier to firmly hold the instrument in place.
